Rugby Union: Nelson RFC get funding boost

News, Sport | | Published: 16:22, Tuesday February 23rd, 2016.

Nelson RFC are to receive £55,000 in Government funding, it has been announced.

The amount, which is part of a £420,000 Aggregate Levy Fund, will be used to carry out essential repairs and improvements to the changing rooms and community facilities at the Swalec League 1 East club.

The Fund is provided by the Welsh Government and application rounds are held twice each financial year.

In announcing the funding, Natural Resources Minister Carl Sargeant said: “The projects receiving a share of this funding all make significant contributions to their communities who will benefit from the improved facilities.

“This fund puts important capital spending back into areas affected by the industrial process of quarrying.

“As a pro-business government we are working closely with companies to create growth and jobs in every part of Wales and I’m delighted that local contractors will benefit from the work.”
