The Commonwealth flag will fly proudly outside Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters Penallta House once again this year, to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday March 14.
The annual initiative sees over 650 Commonwealth flags raised in 38 Commonwealth countries on a day which offers an opportunity for people worldwide to show their commitment to the Commonwealth.
The short dedication and flag raising will take place at the council’s headquarters Penallta House at 10am on Monday March 14, and will be led by the council’s Mayor Cllr Leon Gardiner and Leader Cllr Keith Reynolds.
Cllr Gardiner said: “Commonwealth Day is a day of unity, and by us proudly flying the flag it will help demonstrate that Caerphilly county borough is proud to show its support and join together with other Commonwealth countries across the world.”
Great, I look forward to the day when we kiss good bye to the EU and can actually start trading with these nations once more. Free from interference from unelected commissioners in an anti-democratic, German dominated, club.
prices will rise and jobs will be lost and no longer be attracted to Wales
Exactly how many jobs have been attracted to Wales? We are losing jobs and have been for all the years we have been in the EU club. I know, I have been made redundant three times and have ended up worse off than I have ever been before. Just apersonal view, though shared by many others, we would be wealthier, happier and have more freedom once the EU handcuffs are off.
The whole argument for the supporters of the EU is fear. Well I have always been adaptable and relish the challenge of living in a, once more, free country.
I’m certainly no economics expert and I have no idea which way to vote but it always appears to me that the only way Wales attracts companies is to bribe them ( probably via European funding ) – Aston Martin a recent example, A friend of mine was recently made redundant after the firm pulled out of Wales, and they’d been bribed to set up in Wales to start with, the money ran out so the company moved back to England. Personally I think scrapping the tolls on the bridge would make a difference, for Welsh companies having to use the bridge it must be a massive expense to them. The whole EU thing is a tricky one, do we really have enough facts to cast an educated vote, or will it simply come down to ones personal views on Europe.
There is some truth in what you say. Cutting out a cancer always requires the loss of some good flesh, but we’ll be better off in the long run.
