Free swim Fridays throughout the borough

News | | Published: 11:00, Thursday March 24th, 2016.

People are being urged to take advantage of a council scheme offering free swimming sessions at leisure centres.

Residents of Caerphilly County Borough can visit their local pool for free on a Friday, provided they have signed up to a council smart card.

The grant covering the cost of the scheme has been extended to the next financial year and is likely to continue as part of the council’s leisure programme.

Residents can attend free swim Fridays at Bedwas, Caerphilly, Cefn Fforest, Heolddu, Newbridge and Risca swimming pools.

Cllr Nigel George, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, said: “Having the grant extended for another financial year is also a massive help for us to continue to be able to offer this service.”
