Two men from Caerphilly County Borough have been jailed for their part in a conspiracy to steal cars, while another was handed a suspended sentence.
The men were sentenced with three others at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, April 8.
Stephen Probert, 39, was given six years imprisonment, Cameron Davies, 23, was handed a two-year jail term, while Matthew Hatton, 25, received a suspended sentence.
In total, five members of the gang were jailed for conspiring to steal cars between November 2011 and July 2012.
The conspiracy involved the men stealing cars and selling them on, as well as duping car buyers into handing over cash and never delivering the car they were promised.
The number of cars stolen totalled more than £100,000.
Probert, now of no fixed abode but previously of Newbridge, was also charged with two counts of fraud and theft worth £8,030.
He was found guilty of all charges and jailed for six years.
Davies, of Abercarn, allowed his bank account to receive money from two of the vehicle sales, and was jailed for two years.
Hatton, of Newbridge, pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal cars, but was given six months imprisonment suspended for 12 months due to his reduced role in the scam.
He will also have to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
The jury found four of the five men guilty of conspiring to steal cars, including Evan Beman, 39, and Donald Anstey, 39.
Gwent Police Senior Investigating Officer Nick Wilkie said: “These individuals had no regard for anyone else apart from themselves and as a result of their criminality caused innocent people to lose their life savings.
“I would like to thank the witnesses in this case for having the courage to come forward to give evidence after everything they have been through.
“This was a detailed and thorough three-year investigation, and I am pleased that these men are now facing the consequences of their calculated and deplorable actions.”
