Residents in Aberbeeg have become the latest to sign up to Gwent Police’s Community Speedwatch initiative.

Following in the footsteps of Machen and Draethan, Waterloo and Rudry, Aberbeeg residents have been given speed-guns in order to catch speeding drivers along their roads.

The group is now regularly monitoring the speed of drivers on the road leading from Parkways Road at Pen-y-fan Industrial Estate between the Oakdale and Aberbeeg roundabouts.

A recent council survey shows traffic volumes doubled on the 30mph road in the last ten years.
