Police were called by the Welsh Ambulance Service to an address near Ystrad Mynach railway station, in Nelson Road, at 5.45pm on Tuesday, May 3.

On arrival, the body of 75-year-old retired college lecturer Iris Owens was found.

Mrs Owens has been described by her community as friendly and lovely, and was an active volunteer for local history groups.

It is also thought she had a daughter and granddaughter.
