An engineering company in Bedwas has been named Wales’ best Small Employer at this year’s Inspire! Awards.

AerFin, based on Bedwas House Industrial Estate, was recognised for its commitment and dedication to supporting staff with their training and learning needs.

The end-of-life aircraft solution company has ensured all of its employees with little or no aviation background, are appropriately trained. AerFin works alongside Cardiff and Vale College to provide NVQ Level 3 assessments whilst providing training for management to be their qualified Assessors and Verifiers.

Staff, including Apprentices, at AerFin are offered flexible learning, giving them time to travel to a technical college to study, whilst having regular assessments and feedback.

HR Manager at AerFin Liz Cridland said: “With a mixture of training, coaching and development options staff are able to grow within the organisation and achieve their fullest potential.”

The Inspire! Awards are hosted each year ahead of Adult Learners’ Week to celebrate the achievements of outstanding learners in Wales who have shown exceptional passion, commitment and drive for learning.
