Police impose another ten-hour dispersal order in Newbridge to curb anti-social behaviour

News | | Published: 14:16, Friday August 5th, 2016.

A ten-hour dispersal order will be in force in Newbridge for the second successive weekend after £6,000 worth of damage was caused to the town’s cricket club.

Starting at 4pm today, Friday August 5, and lasting until 2am on Saturday August 6, the dispersal order, implemented by Gwent Police, covers Bridge Street, Newbridge Leisure Centre, Newbridge Comprehensive School, Newbridge Rugby Club, Welfare Ground, Celynen Road, Newbridge Gateway Retail Park and Calzaghe Bridge.

Police Officers will be patrolling the area, and have the authority to direct anyone behaving anti-socially away from the area.

If anyone returns to the area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

Inspector Jason White said: “This dispersal order has been put in place following reports of anti-social behaviour in these areas and the recent damage caused to the Cricket Club.

“Officers will be on regular patrol in the areas affected to enforce the Dispersal Order and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour.

“Officers are continuing their enquiries following the incident at the Cricket Club and I would again appeal to anyone with information relating to this to call 101 quoting log 186 23/07/16.”
