Son admits murdering his mother in Ystrad Mynach

A man has admitted murdering his 75-year-old mother at her home in Ystrad Mynach.

At a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court today, September 9, Robert Owens, 47, pleaded guilty to killing Iris Owens at her house in Station Road, near Ystrad Mynach Railway Station on May 3 this year.

Owens admitted the murder via videolink from Cardiff prison and is due to be sentenced on October 31.

Judge Eleri Rees ordered a psychiatric report on Owens, of River Row in Abercynon, before he is sentenced
