News | | Published: 11:50, Friday October 21st, 2016.

Gwent Police has imposed a 48 hour dispersal order in Ystrad Mynach over the coming weekend in an attempt to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.

Starting at 5.30pm today, Friday October 21, and lasting 48 hours, the dispersal order covers Bryn Mynach Avenue, Caerphilly Road, A472 from railway station down to Caerphilly Road, Ystrad Mynach Park, Commercial Street, Bedllwyn Road, Bedllwyn Street, Central Street, Church Street, Oakfield Street, Lewis Street, Penallta Road, High Street, Cedar Way, Pine Grove, Trinity Close and the Coleg y Cymoedd campus.

Officers will be patrolling the area, and have the authority to direct anyone behaving anti-socially away from the area.

If anyone returns to the area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

Local inspector Ian Muirhead said: “This dispersal order has been put in place following reports of anti-social behaviour in the area where the actions of a small minority are causing alarm and distress to local residents.

“Officers will be on regular patrol in the areas affected to enforce the Dispersal Order and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour.”

Residents can report any anti-social activity to 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
