Pontllanfraith’s three Labour councillors have congratulated residents on a successful community event.

Councillors Mike Adams, Colin Gordon, and Gez Kirby had called on volunteers to take pride in Pontllanfraith and come together to clean up the streets.

On Saturday February 11, 16 hardy volunteers braved snowy conditions to collect 48 bags of litter.

Cllr Gez Kirby said: “We know our community takes Pride in Pont, so we organised this litter-pick event to help make Pontllanfraith an even tidier place to live.”

Cllr Mike Adams added: “It was great that we were joined on the day by so many volunteers, including from Caerphilly’s Keep Wales Tidy, the 2nd Pontllanfraith Guides group and Islwyn’s AM, Rhianon Passmore.”

Cllr Colin Gordon said: “We’re really grateful to everyone who showed up and made such a difference to our community – and thanks to Pont News for the teas and coffees.”
