Members of Gwerin Day Service, at Bryn Bach Park, in Rhymney, recently took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for a cancer charity.

Around £350 was raised for Helping Hands Cancer Charity, based on Rhymney High Street.

The event was held with physical activities coordinator, Kirsty James, who has been working with Gwerin Day Services to improve members’ fitness. Following the walk, the group were presented with trophies in recognition of their fitness work throughout the year.

Cllr Carl Cuss, Cabinet Member for Social Care and Wellbeing said: “Well done to Gwerin Day Service for raising money for such a fantastic charity.

“Helping Hands provide crucial support to the local community through transporting patients to appointments.”

Gwerin Day Service provides support to residents in the Upper Rhymney Valley area with a learning disability and regularly hold events for charity.
