RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a dog was found dead in a river near Newbridge.

The dog, a Dogue de Bordeaux, was found among rocks and boulders in the River Ebbw, by Riverside Terrace in Newbridge on Wednesday, November 15.

The animal charity said injuries were visible on the female dog’s side and head and that it also had a growth under its jaw.

RSPCA Inspector Annie Simmonds, pictured below, said: “We don’t know if this dog was deliberately dumped in the river, or if an owner is searching for this poor animal and may not know of the dog’s tragic fate.

“It’s also unclear whether the injuries were sustained before or after death, but the growth on her jaw is likely to have caused the dog discomfort for some while.”

The animal was not microchipped and the charity is appealing for information from the public who can call 0300 123 8018.
