Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Supporting People team have been recognised for their work supporting people who are sleeping rough.

It recently received the Excellent Commissioning Award 2017 during Cymorth’s Promoting Independence Awards, which celebrates the work being done within Wales to provide help and support for some of the most vulnerable members of society.

The service looks to source accommodation for people who are rough sleeping and help them to set up a home, claim benefits, find training opportunities and help them back into employment.

Cllr Lisa Phipps, Cabinet Member for Homes and Places said: “This is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team, who strive to help people fulfil their potential and maximise their independence. Well done to everyone involved.”
