CONNECTED: Rail passengers can now access free Wi-Fi on their journeys

Passengers across Wales can now benefit from free Wi-Fi on all Arriva Trains Wales services thanks to Welsh Government funding of £1.5 million.

Economy and Transport Secretary Ken Skates said: “Passengers across the Valley Lines and West Wales – including the Heart of Wales line – will now benefit from this vital connectivity.”

Tom Joyner, Managing Director for Arriva Trains Wales, said: “Customers have frequently been asking for Wi-Fi on-board our trains and this has been a really significant project which has taken careful planning and hundreds of staff hours to deliver successfully without impacting on services.”

Caerphilly’s Assembly Member Hefin David said: “This is great news for train users in my Caerphilly constituency. This roll out will be a real boon to commuters and business users alike.

“The Welsh Labour Government are right to invest in this connectivity and it makes train usage even more attractive to local residents.

“It recognises the increasing importance of connectivity to business passengers in particular.”
