Machen Rotary Club and other members of the local community have planted 5,000 purple crocus bulbs at St Johns Church and in the centre of Machen.
The purple crocus bulbs are a symbol of Rotary’s aim to rid the world of polio.
When a child receives their life-saving polio drops on mass immunisation days, their finger is painted with a purple dye so it is clear the child has received their vaccine.
If anyone wants to find out more about the Rotary Club of Machen, please contact John Newton on john.newton645@btinternet.com.
This will look really beautiful when they bloom.
