The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k returns on Sunday May 28 for its sixth year.

A record of almost 2,500 runners took to the roads around Caerphilly town under a blue sky last year and organisers of this year’s edition are hoping for a record number of entrants for the prestigious event.

The 10km course will lead runners in and around Caerphilly town centre. They will pass local landmarks including the Tommy Cooper statue, as well as offering views of Caerphilly Castle.

Also returning for 2018 is the 2k run, which gives younger runners the opportunity to experience the timed event at a shorter distance.

Entrants for the 2k race must be at least eight-years-old on the day of the race to take part.
Entry costs for the 10km race are £20 for unaffiliated runners and £18 for affiliated runners and concessions. The 2km race costs £6.50.

The course record was set by Bristol and West Athletics Club’s Owain Jones in 2016, who stopped the clock at the finish line in 31 minutes and three seconds.

The race organisers are hoping for kinder weather after last year’s hot conditions and that elite and competitive entrants will try and take on Owain’s record for 2018.

The event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, sponsored by Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel and Spa and is supported by Welsh Athletics, Run Wales and Sport Wales.

A great opportunity for runners of all ages and abilities – let it continue for many years .
For many it will be their first competitive run – and it’s a great way to see how friendly it can be.
