A butcher’s shop in Risca has thanked its generous customers for donating more than 400 Easter eggs to children at Tŷ Hafan, Velindre Cancer Centre, and the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

Each year Howard’s Butchers, in Commercial Street, collects the eggs from kind-hearted customers.

Chris Powell, of Howard’s Butchers, said: “The customers themselves start the collection each year. A gentleman called Steve Smith comes in just after Christmas each year with two eggs to get the ball rolling.

“We’d like to thank all of our customers for their help and support.”

Great to see such a public spirited attitude and generosity to such worthy causes.
