Appeal after dead cat’s body found dumped in a bin in Newbridge

News | | Published: 18:54, Friday April 6th, 2018.

The dead body of a cat has been found in a green wheelie bin in the Newbridge area.

The black and white cat was found alongside beer cans and faeces in a wheelie bin in the area of Church Road and Thorne Avenue.

RSPCA Cymru has urged anyone with information to call their inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

The animal welfare charity said there are “multiple explanations” as to why the body could have been dumped, but wants to get answers.

The cat was not microchipped, and no obvious injuries were found on the cat’s body.

RSPCA inspector Izzi Hignell said: “This must have been a shocking discovery for someone to make, and the smell was overpowering.

“The poor cat’s dead body was found amid beer cans and faeces in this Newbridge bin.

“In truth, there are multiple explanations as to how the cat’s body could have been found in the bin. It may have been moved there having been the victim of a road traffic accident, or someone may have disposed of the body of a dead pet in such a manner.

“However, we’re appealing for information in case anybody knows anything about this incident, or who may have owned this poor cat.

“The animal was not microchipped, but if anyone has information linked to who may have owned this black and white cat, we urge them to contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018, with calls treated in confidence.”

It seems that a minority of people in the south wales valleys are not a nation of animal lovers – this is the third story in recent weeks concerning alleged animal cruelty.
The moral if the story is if you’re not prepared to treat your pets properly don’t have them !

Totally agree John. No excuses really for any animal cruelty in this day and age.
