The Derbyshire Constabulary Male Choir will entertain shoppers on Sunday

The Derbyshire Constabulary Male Choir will be performing at a Caerphilly shopping centre.

The choir will appear at the Castle Court Shopping Centre between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Sunday.

It will be their last performance before their name change to the Derbyshire Community Male Choir in June.

Marika Jones, manager of the Castle Court Shopping Centre, said: “This is a scoop for the Centre.

“They will be performing with the Caerphilly Ladies Choir on Saturday and our shoppers will be able to enjoy them on Sunday as they perform from the bandstand.”

Should be a nice event – at least we’ll get a police presence in Caerphilly, even if it’s not from our own force.

They had to change their name because the Chief Constable said they would have to disown them because this Male Choir should have women in them in the name of equality. How daft has some of this PC rubbish become.

How right you are Phil, I take pride in being not politically correct in the slightest. The ridiculous Chief Constable who made them change their name obviously does not know that the male and female human voice has different pitch and that choirs are made up of people whose voices can, singing in their parts, produce the desired sound.

I am a baritone, a poor one, but my voice would not fit with a womens choir any more than the lowest female pitch, contralto, fits in with a male voice outfit.
