A Caerphilly women’s group will hold a coffee morning and cake sale on Saturday, August 4 as part of a national Women’s Aid campaign.
The event will be held at the Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly, from 10:30am to 1pm.
The national ‘Welsh cakes for Women’s aid’ campaign aims to fundraise and raise awareness to mark 40 years of Welsh Women’s Aid.
Eleri Butler, CEO of Welsh Women’s Aid, said: “1 in 3 women in Wales have experienced some form of physical or sexual violence, so it is clear that the work of Welsh Women’s Aid is as vital today as it was 40 years ago.
“As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, we’re calling on people across Wales to support our work by selling cakes and, at the same time, starting a conversation about how we can end violence against women within the next 40 years.
“We would like to thank everyone who is supporting this campaign for taking the time to raise money for – and speak out about – ending violence against women in Wales. Something that touches so many lives.”
Founded in 1978, Welsh Women’s Aid is the umbrella body for violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence specialist services in the third sector in Wales.
Its aim is to end violence and abuse against women while ensuring survivors have access to high-quality, needs-led and strengths-based support.
