A tool to help clubs to communicate and manage their membership has been launched by a Caerphilly-based tech company.
Clubetter is a fully bilingual club membership portal which allows grassroots clubs, societies, community, professional and business groups to communicate and work efficiently.
Launched by data engineering company Datris, which is Welsh for solution.
Dave Taylor, Director at Datris, said: “Clubetter was created out of sheer frustration. In work people can often access the latest IT systems and marketing support, but when we’re organising local clubs or groups in our spare time it’s a very different world, with little support and poor access to user-friendly technology.
“We wanted to create a membership platform that would do what it says on the tin – make your club better – by being the easiest club app to use, to save us all time with admin, organising activities and events, keeping in touch with members and send out news, as well as helping to increase revenues with a really simple payments process. And as a Welsh business, of course it was important for Clubetter to be the first fully bilingual membership app.
“Using the Clubetter app means that those running the organisations can get on with what they do best, working with their members rather than on time-sapping administration.”
Clubetter can help all sorts of associations and clubs, not just sports clubs. It has already been in talks with faith groups, social enterprises, as well as community councils about how the platform can help with organisation, communication and payment.
Mr Taylor added: “Our vision for Clubetter is that it will be the go-to app for any membership organisation that wants to operate more effectively, with better member engagement and increased revenues. In Wales alone there are 35,000 community groups, clubs and organisations and over 600,000 UK wide. Clubetter will also help them comply with data regulations, as all information is stored safely and securely with easy-to-use Dropbox-like functionality.
“It only takes five minutes to get your organisation set up on Clubetter and we have easy to understand explainer videos and direct support available to help every step of the way.

Datris, which has created Clubetter, was founded by Dave Taylor, former engineering manager at General Dynamics, Jeremy North, formerly of Nokia and currently Consulting Software Architect at WJEC, and Dafydd Davies, former Chief Executive of BIC Innovation. It is based in Welsh ICE in Caerphilly and employs ten people.
Membership for organisations with under 50 members is free. Those with members of between 50 and 250 are charged £19.99 a month, while clubs with members of 250-plus pay £39.99 a month.
