Six members of a cocaine ring have been jailed for more than a total of 41 years.
Top drug dealer Matthew Smith, 37, of Sunny View, Pontlottyn, received the longest sentence and was jailed for nine years and four months.
Gareth Price, 28, of Queen’s Road, Elliots Town, was jailed for seven years, and Jory Kift, 25, of School Street, Elliots Town, was given six years and eight months.
Jamie Myerscough, 27, of Gilfach Street, Bargoed; Bradley Williams, 31, of Coronation Road, Abertillery; and Callum Lewis, 24, of Alfred Street, Abertysswg, all received six-year sentences.
All had previously admitted drug dealing charges.
At a sentencing hearing on Friday, October 12, Newport Crown Court was told how all six had been dealing cocaine between December last year and May this year.
Smith was the leader of the gang and dealt with suppliers further up the chain, while Price’s home was used as a meeting place and delivery address. He was also in control of a disused railway carriage where drugs were cut and packaged.
Kift allowed the gang to store cocaine at his garage, while Lewis carried out deliveries.
Myerscough, Williams and Lewis were dealers who bought off Smith and then sold the drugs on to others.
Through statements made via their barristers, all six men expressed regret at their actions.
Speaking after the hearing, Detective Constable Shelley Baynes, of Gwent Police, said: “Their convictions followed a proactive investigation by Gwent Police’s Force Crime Team that identified the defendants having a key role in supplying many kilos of high purity cocaine throughout the Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent valleys.
“This organised crime group conducted their criminality to make a substantial financial gain for themselves, and a Proceeds of Crime hearing will follow these convictions.
“Gwent Police will continue to pursue any offenders taking part in organised crime, both overtly and covertly, and would urge anyone with information about criminal activity like this to contact us – anonymously if they wish – on 101.”
The men were arrested in a series of police raids carried out in Tredegar, New Tredegar, Abertysswg and Bargoed, on Thursday, May 3.
At the time of the raids, Gwent Police said more than 50 specialist officers and dog units were involved in the operation, which saw two cars and large amounts of cash seized.
