A 30-year-old man from the Caerphilly area has been arrested following a fatal car crash in Hengoed.

The crash, between a black Seat Leon and a grey Volkswagen Crafter van, happened at around 8.30pm on Friday, January 11, on New Road near the viaduct.

The Welsh Ambulance Service, South Wales Fire Service and the police attended the scene.

Police said the male passenger in the Seat, a 43-year-old man from the Fleur-De-Lis area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Seat, and two further passengers, were taken to hospital – none are believed to have serious injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen Crafter van was uninjured.
