Success for young gymnasts from Crumlin-based academy

Young gymnasts from Valleys Gymnastics Academy in Crumlin achieved success in the Wales Regional Grades Finals in Llanelli on Saturday, March 2.

Four gymnasts from the club represented South Central Wales in the Grade 6 competition, winning gold, silver and bronze medals between them.

Meanwhile, two gymnasts from the club won bronze at Grade Five.

Valleys Gymnastics Academy head coach Melissa Anderson said: “We’re really proud that four of the five competitors from South Central Wales represent our club.

“It shows the success of our club. It’s a lovely achievement.”

The success follows a successful February for Valleys Gymnastics Academy.

Grade Six gymnasts at the grading in Newport

On Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10, 18 gymnasts from the club travelled to Newport for their annual grading and achieved a 100% pass rate.

Morgan Treadgold was the overall champion at Grade Five, while Madison Brown finished third, Gracie Owen fifth and Addien Burgess sixth.

At Grade Six, Molly Watkins was the overall champion, while Gen Hooper finished second, Millie Cox third and Madeleine Johnson fourth.

The following weekend, on Saturday, February 16, the team travelled to Melksham, Wiltshire, to compete in the National Quatro Cup event.

Gymnasts from across the UK competed at the invitational event.

Millie Cox from Valleys Gymnastics Academy won gold at Grade Six and was the overall champion at the competition.

Meanwhile, Bethany Paull, who trains at Valleys Gymnastics Club was a flag bearer for Great Britain at the Special Olympics opening ceremony on Thursday, March 14.
