More than 9,000 people visit Caerphilly Food Festival

Caerphilly Food Festival returned to the town centre on May 11

More than 9,000 people visited the Caerphilly Food Festival, which was held on the weekend of Saturday, May 11.

Around 100 food, craft and activity stalls were set up for the event, which took place in Caerphilly town centre.

A number of street entertainment acts performed at the event, including The Big Banger, The French Waiters and Cock A Doodle Doo.

There were also a number of cookery demonstrations, with chefs from The Cwm a Mynydd Local Kitchen and Artisan Cooks Barbecue Demonstrations sharing their skills.

Laura Saiz, Carla Garcia Rico and Maria Ramos, who are all from Spain and were staying in Cardiff over the weekend, came to Caerphilly for the food festival.

Ms Ramos said: “This is wonderful, we were so impressed when we walked through the town and then to see the amazing castle, it is very impressive. We spent a few hours in the castle and now we are trying some of the food from the festival.”

Following the food festival, Caerphilly town centre will be hosting the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k on Sunday, May 19.
