Tributes have been paid to a 60-year-old man who died after the motorbike he was riding on was involved in a collision with a car in Monmouthshire.

Neil Powell, from Caerphilly, was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday, July 28.

In a statement, Mr Powell’s family said: “Neil Berian Powell was a loving husband, son and devoted dad, granddad, great grandfather and father-in-law.

“He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Neil was a faithful and loyal member of St Tyfaelog Church, Pontlottyn, where he played the organ for over 30 years.

“Neil will be sadly missed by his work colleagues at the print room in Tredomen.

“Neil was also a keen biker and a passionate Welsh rugby supporter.”

Police were called to the scene on the A4042, near Llanover, at around 3.35pm.

A 71-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident can contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting log 388 of 28/07/19.
