12-year-old boy killed after being hit by car in Aberbargoed

The incient happened on Pengam Road, Aberbargoed

A 12-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car on Pengam Road, Aberbargoed on Saturday, September 7.

Gwent Police has named the boy as Cole Roper, from Cefn Fforest.

The boy was riding a bike with another 12-year-old child when they were hit by a blue Vauxhall Astra.

Police were called to the scene at around 9.30pm.

Cole was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil before being transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where he died.

The other child was treated at hospital for his injuries and has since been released.

Police have said Cole’s family has been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car was unharmed.

Police are asking motorists who were on the road at the time of the incident to check any dash cam footage they may have.
