Bargoed are out of the WRU National Cup after a first round defeat to Principality Premiership side Aberavon.
The Bulls were beaten 26-7 at the Talbot Athletic Ground in Port Talbot on Saturday, September 14.
The visitors defended well early on but went behind in the 18th minute when Aled Rees scored for Aberavon.
Namesake Aled Thomas converted to put the hosts 7-0 up.
A Bargoed error resulted in Aberavon increasing their lead on the half hour mark, with Will Price crashing over the try line from close range.
Hooker Rhys Buckley kept Bargoed in contention when he scored from a driving lineout.
Bargoed grabbed an extra two points through the boot of Steff Jones, drawing them to within five points of their opponents.
But five minutes later with half-time looming, Aberavon scored again when Thomas capitalised on a defensive error to score a try under the posts.
Thomas converted his try to give Aberavon a 19-7 half-time lead.
Bargoed returned to the field after the break hoping to claw their way back into the contest, but it was Aberavon who were next onto the scoreboard when Lloyd Evans scored his side’s fourth try.
Thomas converted, putting the Bulls 26-7 behind.
Bargoed had the bulk of the possession and territory in the second half but were unable to turn it into points on the board.
The Bulls return to Championship action on Saturday, September 21 when they host Maesteg Quins.
