Community council looking for youth ambassador

News | Rhys Williams | Published: 14:55, Wednesday October 16th, 2019.

Penyrheol Community Centre

Penyrheol, Trecenydd and Energlyn Community Council is looking for a new youth ambassador.

Cllr Steve Skivens said: “Following on from the very successful appointments of Meg Owen, followed by Georgie Rees, Penyrheol, Trecenydd and Energlyn Community Council has decided to recruit another youth ambassador.

“Before Meg’s appointment, we felt that we were not in touch enough with the young people of the community and we wanted to redress this issue.

“We really do want to know the views and concerns of the young people of today and felt we could only do that through the youngsters themselves.”

The community council is seeking applications from people aged between 15 and 17, who either live, work or go to school within the ward.

The role is unpaid, but travel expenses will be covered.

The role includes attending community council meetings and other functions, as well as speaking to young people about their concerns, and more.

The deadline for applying for the role is Thursday, October 31, with interviews taking place in late November.

Anyone interested in applying can email ptecommunitycouncil@gmail.com.

Applicants are encouraged to send a written description of themselves, outlining why they’re interested, any relevant experience and what they would like to see happening for young people in the community.
