Police officers have carried out an operation to catch motorists driving ‘illegally’ and in an ‘anti-social manner’ in Rhymney.
Officers carried out the operation on Wednesday, November 27 after an increase in reports of anti-social driving in the area.
The operation, which took place in and around the Lawns Industrial Estate, was carried out with the help of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), HMRC, NSL and GoSafe, as well as Caerphilly Trading Standards Team.

During the operation, 22 cars were caught speeding, with the offenders set to be fined or made to attend speed awareness courses.
Eleven vehicles were stopped and deemed not roadworthy, while ten vehicles were found to have issues with headlights and fog lights, with drivers given ten days to fix the problems.
One vehicle was stopped for using red diesel, while three traffic offence reports were logged for faulty tyres, use of a mobile phone and being in a dangerous condition.

Meanwhile, an unlicensed scrap dealer was stopped by the police and will be dealt with by the council.
Over the course of the day, the DVLA issued 30 electronic fines to vehicles without any tax, while the NSL recovered three vehicles, clamped 21 vehicles and issued nine tickets.
PC Paul Broad of Rhymney Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This is the second operation of this kind that we’ve run in the area recently. Residents have told us that this is a priority they would like us to address, and by working with our partners we are able to make our roads safer for local residents and motorists.
“Further operations are now scheduled to take place over the forthcoming months to ensure the message is getting out there – we will not tolerate anti-social driving on our roads.”
