Retired boxer Joe Calzaghe, from Newbridge, has been presented with a lifetime achievement award at the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year awards.
After receiving the award at the Celtic Manor Resort on Tuesday, December 10, Calzaghe, 47, told BBC Wales: “I feel a bit old having this award but it’s a massive honour.”
He dedicated the award to his late father, Enzo, and said he was “very proud” to be recognised.
Calzaghe added: “He (Enzo) would have loved it. He would have had everyone in stitches tonight.
“I’m sure he’s up there looking down.”
Meanwhile, Boxer Lauren Price and javelin thrower Hollie Arnold MBE were beaten to the Wales Sports Personality of the Year award by Welsh rugby star Alun-Wyn Jones.
Middleweight boxer Price, 25, from Bargoed, was nominated for the award after winning the AIBA World Championships in Eastern Siberia in October.
Price’s world championship win followed victory at the European Games in Minsk, Belarus in June.

Speaking to BBC Wales, Price said: “I still pinch myself at times – I can’t quite believe it.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to become world champion and to go and win the Olympic Games, but it’s been an unbelievable year for me.
“Now I believe I can win gold, this year I suppose I’ve grown in confidence.
“Just got to put the work in and hopefully come the beginning of the summer I’m on that podium with another gold.”
Meanwhile, 25-year-old Arnold, who moved to Ystrad Mynach as a teenager, was nominated for the award after winning gold at the World Athletics Championships in Dubai in November.
It was her fourth consecutive javelin world title having also won gold medals at the European, Paralympic and Commonwealth games.
Arnold, who was born without her right forearm, competed at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China, aged just 14, and became an MBE in 2017.
Speaking to BBC Wales, Arnold said: “I’m so happy that I got that fourth consecutive medal and I’m very proud of that medal.”
Speaking about the 2020 Olympics, Arnold said she wants “to go out there, break that world record and take that gold home.”
