Pupils from Aberbargoed Primary School will be performing in a choir at St David’s Hall, Cardiff to raise money for charity.

Pupils will be performing on Monday, March 2 as part of the Barnardo’s Cymru Young Supporters’ Concert.

They will be part of a 600-strong choir, which will include 16 other schools from across south Wales, as well as children and young people who look after sick or disabled relatives.

Barnardo’s Cymru aims to provide fun activities and outings to give young carers a break from caring.

Some of the songs that will be sung at the concert include Everything is Awesome from The Lego Movie, Hallelujah, and Welsh-language song Hafan Gobaith.

David Lewis, headteacher of Aberbargoed Primary, said: “I am so pleased our wonderful learners have the opportunity to sing in the fantastic St David’s Hall, on the same stage as so many world famous performers over the years.

“To be joining together with 600 other young people will be an inspirational experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.

“To be doing all of this in support of Barnardo’s – a charity which does so much to support so many vulnerable children, young people and their families and carers – is very special and a real privilege for us.”

Eleven-year-old pupil Kadie, who will be taking part in the event, said: “I think it’s a good idea for all the schools to come together and unite as one to sing different songs. I’m sure we will meet and make new friends from the other schools taking part.

“It has been a great idea to learn new English and Welsh songs so if you are a fluent Welsh speaker you don’t feel left out. We’ve enjoyed learning all of the songs.”

Susie Bailey of Barnardo’s Cymru, said: “Our Young Supporters’ Concert is a fantastic evening, bringing together talented and enthusiastic performers to raise much needed funds for Barnardo’s. We are so grateful to everyone for supporting the event.”
