Hengoed Happiness and Wellbeing Group is celebrating its first anniversary by holding a community day.
The event will be held at Hengoed Community Centre on Saturday, February 29. It will begin at 10am and is expected to finish at 4pm.
Some of the activities that will be held on the day include meditation, aromatherapy, a men-only workshop, Tai Chi, line dancing and belly dancing, among others.
An afternoon tea, which will be attended by Soprano Beverly Davies, will also take place. Entry to the afternoon tea costs £7.50.
Group member Mel Jones said: “This community day is a great example of what happens when people work together.
“Despite widespread prescribing of medication, issues including depression, stress, anxiety and isolation is continuing to grow in our society – so initiatives like ours are so valuable in giving people an alternative and a way to feel good again.”
Founder member Claire Bellavia said: “This group has a positive impact on people. Knowledge is power and learning wellbeing strategies empower people and improve quality of life.
“The group is entirely self-funded and to help with covering costs, people are encouraged to buy refreshments and healthy snacks such as soups, sandwiches, fruits and beverages all available at low prices.”
