A 23-year-old man from Caerphilly has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm after a stabbing on the banks of Caerphilly Castle.

Police were called to the incident at around 8.50pm on Thursday evening (May 28), with a 26-year-old man suffering stab wounds to the abdomen.

The victim was taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where he remains and is currently in a stable condition.

A 30-year-old man from the Deri area was also treated for superficial wounds at the scene.

It was the second stabbing to take place in Caerphilly County Borough that evening, with an incident taking place in Pantside, near Newbridge, about an hour earlier.
