Caerphilly County Borough has recorded its fifth day without any new cases of Covid-19, according to statistics from Public Health Wales.

As of Sunday, June 7, there have been 701 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Caerphilly County Borough recorded its first case of Covid-19 on March 10 – news of which was released the following day. Since then, a total of 4,200 people have been tested out a populations of around 180,000.

There have been no recorded cases in the county borough since Tuesday, June 2, when two people tested positive. It should be noted that no-one from Caerphilly County Borough was tested yesterday and that not everyone who has Covid-19 is necessarily tested. For example, people who are displaying no symptoms may have it but not put themselves forward for testing.

Across Wales there were 42 new cases reported, meaning 14,438 people have tested positive for Covid-19 out of 113,443 tests.

It was announced today that three more people died from the virus taking the total in Wales to 1,401.

Across the United Kingdom, the total death toll is 40,597 as of June 7.
