A suspected drink driver was taken to hospital after crashing a car in Bargoed.

The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday, June 17 on Church Place.

There were two people inside the black Ford KA at the time of the crash, which was reported to police at 12.50am.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman from the Merthyr Tydfil area, was taken to Prince Charles Hospital for a minor injury.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said the driver “completed a roadside breath test and blew over the drink drive limit”, and that “further samples were taken” at hospital.

Gwent Police has said enquiries into the crash are ongoing.
