A two-year-old boy who wrote a letter and drew pictures for police officers was left “starstruck” when two officers turned up at his door.
Frankie Towell, from Caerphilly, sent his drawings and letter to Bedwas Police Station, thanking them for protecting residents from coronavirus, or as Frankie calls it, the “baddie cough”.
The officers paid Frankie a socially-distanced visit last month, giving him a letter and a goody bag with gifts such as colouring pictures, pencils, a torch and a key ring, as well as a letter thanking him for his drawings.
Frankie’s mother, Poppy Jones, said: “Frankie is obsessed with the police. He was starstruck when they showed up at the door.
“He went so quiet and was very excited to see the police”.
Ms Jones added: “I honestly can’t thank them [the police] enough for brightening his time during lockdown. He has not stopped talking about his new pals for weeks.
“It helped confirm to him what’s happening too, in his own little world.”
PC Lisa Bird, of the Bedwas neighbourhood policing team, said: “We received a lovely painting and card from Frankie at our station in Bedwas.
“The card thanked the officers for their hard work during the health crisis. We pinned this up at the station so all the officers were able to see it.
“We wanted to thank Frankie for his kind gesture so we sent him a letter and colouring book. While out on patrol, I delivered the book and letter to him. We also gave Frankie some colouring pencils.
“While there, Frankie had a picture with the police car and I put on the lights and sirens for him.”
