Work is underway to provide more outdoor dining areas for cafes and restaurants in town centres across Caerphilly County Borough.
The measures, which are being introduced by Caerphilly County Borough Council, will benefit several businesses in Bargoed, Blackwood, Caerphilly town, Newbridge and Risca.
In Blackwood, a number of businesses will benefit from the outdoor dining space, including Squre Cafe, Greggs, Costa, Caesars, Dessert Yard, McKenzies Cafe Bar and Coffee Cup.
In Risca, Coffee Mill, Park Avenue Coffee Shop, No.49, Greggs and Dominos will all gain outdoor dining areas.
Meanwhile, Belinda’s, Murray’s and Conti Fish and Chips in Bargoed will also benefit from the plans, as will Victoria Cafe in Newbridge.
Councillor Sean Morgan, council cabinet member with responsibility for the economy said: “We are doing all we can to support local businesses in the recovery phase of Covid-19.
“We realise that this has been a hugely challenging time and we are doing all we can to put things in place to allow businesses to trade within the guidelines and make the experience a safe and enjoyable one for customers.
Blackwood ward councillor Kevin Etheridge has also supported the move.
“I hope it attracts additional business for the cafes on the high street, as we must protect all our small traders here in Blackwood,” he said.
