If you’re an IT specialist working for a business or organisation that’s looking to migrate from a particular software platform and you need to backup Exchange 2010 (while maintaining email continuity), you will already be aware that there is much to think about before making this leap.

There are many advantages to switching to using the Exchange 2010 email platform; perhaps one of the greatest advantages is the fact that there are excellent cloud-based email continuity, security, and archival services available on one singular platform.

If you are thinking about how you would go about moving a large database from one server – such as an older version of Exchange or Lotus Notes – you may find yourself questioning whether you will ever be able to execute on such a task!

Once you have managed to come up with a proper email continuity strategy and have set parameters for your company’s email policies, you will be able to learn just how to backup Exchange systems by using appropriate software to help your business reach its objectives in this area.

All responsible IT managers must consider the fact that switching servers can cause issues such as possible email downtime, data loss, cost increases, and the general complexities that come with moving a system from one host server to another. This can cause significant problems, headaches and force staff to move to less secure and non-archived web-based email systems during the interim, leaving the business open to future legal problems.

However, just as there are a number of risks and hurdles to jump through before changing to Exchange 2010, there are also a huge amount of benefits that you will be able to benefit from when you make the move to using a solution to enhance Exchange that is hosted in the cloud.

For instance, one of the greatest advantages of using Exchange 2010 is that cloud technology allows you to feel a sense of security in your email continuity against unplanned discrepancies such as fires, floods, or any other accidents be them minor or major. This system also helps reduce the server load and enables Exchange to work efficiently without the added burden on the server.

Overall, there are many things to consider when making the move from your current email host to a new server, and it is important to weigh up both the good and bad. Take the time to think about what is right for the company you are representing and make a list of the pros and cons with regards to keeping your current system as well as the idea of moving to a new server.

Most IT professionals are already aware of the fact that when all is said and done, cloud technology is the way forward. You may find that, even if you do not see this as a necessary solution for your business at this moment in time, it is very possible that you will be swayed toward this technology in the near future.
