Caerphilly County Borough Council has confirmed it will be “upgrading” the 3G pitch at Newbridge Leisure Centre with work set to begin in the new year.

In a statement, the council said: “The council has secured funding to replace the current 3G pitch at Newbridge Leisure Centre that has come to the end of its life.”

The authority said the works are expected to be completed in the spring.

Newbridge Town AFC currently train on the 3G, and hope this new turf will allow them to play league matches at the venue.
