FAW Amateur Trophy champions, Trethomas Bluebirds, are set to host Anglesey-based side Holyhead Hotspur in the quarter finals of the competition.
The Bluebirds are once again thankful for the home tie, having beaten league rivals Lliswerry 4-1 at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in the last round.
Their opposition this time play in the northern equivalent of the Ardal South East, and sit eighth in the table, 12 points from top. Hotspur have won four of their last six games.
Meanwhile the Bluebirds are still flying high at the halfway stage of the season. Mark Dunford’s men remain undefeated in the league, and sit six points clear of Rivals Newport City with a game in hand.
Before their last match against Lliswerry, Dunford told Caerphilly Observer how he and his side were treating the tournament as a priority, and that the cup was theirs to defend.
Asked about the draw this time, Dunford said he was pleased to dodge the 390-mile round trip to Anglesey.
The match is due to be played on Saturday February 17.
