With just a couple games remaining, Pontymister Athletic Bowls club lost 86-72 on the road against Croesyceiliog in a Monmouthshire Bowling Association match.

The hosts took an early lead against Pontymister and managed to extend that score throughout the match. The pair were neck and neck before that one, with Croesyceiliog now moving ahead.

Report

On rink two, the four of Mike Lyons, Phil Huntley, Chris Beale, and Roger Venn had a convincing win over W Saunders, P. Goring, P. Silverthorne, and Mike O’Dwyer running out 13-24 winners.

On rink four, it was a very bad day at the office for Frank Trepleton, Graham Smith, Richie Murphy, and Dave Hill who never got to grips with their rink at all and lost 12-30 to D. Williams, H. Jenkins, N. Ford, and R. Jenkins.

On rink five, the Mister Men’s rink of Sean Kenvyn, Nick Harris, Roger Simms, and Andrew Goodwin were involved in a close battle with A. Roberts, Mike Cleaver, N. Gooding, and M. Brooks. Pontymister led for most of the game, but dropped a “three” and “two” on the last two ends to go down 18-22.

Finally on rink six, Pontymister’s Dave Bowd, Sid Phillips, Lloyd Turnbull, and skipper Ronnie Morgan were involved in a tight battle against Luke Jones, S. Manley, Kevin Jones, and C. Jones, eventually going down 18-21.
