Trethomas Bluebirds’ Mark Dunford has been named manager of the month in the Cymru South after leading his side to the top of the table.

Dunford’s newly promoted Bluebirds were described as the “surprise package” by the league when making the announcement via social media, which was voted on by fans and an independent panel.

Through July and August, Trethomas played six games, winning four and only drawing two to late equalisers. They also scored 14 goals.

The Bluebirds still remain top of the league on goal difference despite suffering their first defeat in the league against Llanelli Town last weekend.

Speaking to Caerphilly Observer after being announced manager of the month, Dunford said: “It’s a special achievement for me and the brilliant coaching staff we have here.

“Our success so far comes from the hard work of everyone at the club behind the scenes through to the players who have taken a huge step-up from the third to second division.”

They face a tough league match on Saturday September 14 away to Pontypridd United.
