Only two sides across Caerphilly managed to get a game on

Despite some bad weather, there were still a couple of Caerphilly-based sides who managed to play one final match before Christmas Day.

Starting in the Ardal South East, only Abercarn managed to get a game underway. They travelled to Abertillery on Saturday afternoon.

It was well worth the trip, as the visitors picked-up three points with a 2-0 win. Calum Gwillim and David Griffiths with the goals. They move into ninth with that victory.

In the league overall, Treowen Stars will sit top at Christmas with a three-point cushion and a game in hand over rivals Chepstow Town.

In the Gwent County Premier League First Division, Rhymney were in action, where they also secured a 2-0 win, on the road to Llanhilleth Athletic.

Jacob Lester and Travis Greening with the goals as Rhymney move into 13th.

That was it in terms of matches played, but some sides still won overall, including Trethomas Bluebirds who find themselves top of the Cymru South at Christmas.

The Bluebirds had no game scheduled, but due to Llanelli Town’s draw with Cambrian United, they find themselves top by two points without kicking a ball.

Most sides across Caerphilly return to action on Saturday December 28.
