A primary school pupil has won three Welsh Athletics National Championship titles at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff.
Jayden Jones, a pupil at Libanus Primary and member of Rhymney Valley Athletics Club, won in the 200m, long jump, and 60m sprint hurdles on February 1 and 2.
Jayden won his national titles at his first opportunity, being a first year in the Under-13 boys age group, two days before his 11th birthday.
He also got to meet one of his idols, former sprint hurdles world record holder Colin Jackson.
Jayden added the Welsh titles to three East Wales Championships titles and a gold medal at the UK minithon championships, which were held in London.
Jayden is following in the footsteps of his hurdles coach and father, Kris Jones, who was a Great Britain Junior international sprint hurdler.
The youngster is also part of the Christian Malcolm Sporting Academy – set up by the former Team GB Olympic sprinter of the same name – where he receives expert coaching.
Away from athletics, Jayden plays as a winger for Oakdale RFC Under-11s.
He has also played rugby union at district level, representing the Islwyn Schools District U11s squad.
