Newbridge’s Elliot Dee is set to make his first start in the Six Nations this year, as interim head coach Matt Sherratt has named his side to face Ireland.

The Cardiff Rugby boss replaced Warren Gatland to become the interim coach following Wales’ loss to Italy two weeks ago – a winless run stretching back to 2023.

Wales will be hoping to end that streak on Saturday against the Irish in their first home match of the tournament, but face a tough test against the reigning Six Nations champions.

Ahead of the tie in Cardiff, Sherratt said: “We’re looking forward to the challenge of facing Ireland. We have spoken this week about being brave, but not reckless and making sure everyone knows their roles. We also know that keeping our discipline will be huge.

“Everyone is excited for our first home game of the Six Nations. The atmosphere Wales fans create at Principality Stadium is incredible and playing at home is something the players really look forward to.”
