There was a weekend off for many with international rugby being played

There were just a handful of games played across Caerphilly County Borough over the weekend as local rugby made way for the Six Nations.

Premiership action and what looked like a close match on paper between fourth-placed Cross Keys and second-placed Merthyr was anything but.

The Keys were shut out 73-0 at home against Merthyr, and are now only one point ahead of Bargoed who have a game in hand.

Just Bedwas in action down in the Championship as they looked to draw level with Beddau at the top of the table.

They took care of business with a comfortable 49-22 victory over mid-table Aberdare. Bedwas also still have a game in hand over the league leaders.

You have to drop all the way down to Division Six East Central to find another match, where Penallta Athletic were involved in a close contest with Cardiff Met Athletic.

The Met were too strong on the day though and finished 29-21 victors. Penallta sit sixth of eight.
