Wales’ men’s wheelchair rugby side will compete at next year’s Rugby League World Cup in Australia.
The side are one of six teams confirmed to compete at the event, with two more set to be confirmed.
It will be Wales’ fourth successive Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup, having participated in all events since forming in 2012, reaching the semi-finals in 2013 and 2022.
The men will join the women’s wheelchair side, who have already qualified for the 2026 women’s wheelchair rugby league world cup, which is also being held down under.
Wales head coach Alan Caron said: “It’s great that we can now plan for the World Cup.
“We’ve another training session this Saturday, then many of the squad will be playing in the two sets of WRL Wheelchair League matches in the next few weeks, before the Celtic Cup on Saturday May 24, so there’s a lot happening.
“We’ve plenty of people playing wheelchair rugby league in Wales now, so competition will be fierce, as I know everyone will want a place on the plane to Australia.”
Caron is currently preparing his side for the upcoming Wheelchair Celtic Cup at Archers Arena, Cardiff Metropolitan University on May 24, when Wales will face Ireland and Scotland in a day-long event.
