Treowen Stars lifted the trophy after a win over Croesyceiliog

Treowen Stars have finally lifted the Ardal South East trophy following a 5-0 win over Croesyceiliog at Bush Park.

The Stars had already wrapped the league up with two games to spare after a 2-0 win over local rivals Abercarn United the weekend previous, but waited until this game to finally lift the league trophy.

It’s been a relatively straightforward path to top spot for Treowen, who find themselves 14 points clear of Caldicot Town in second, having led the league for most of the season.

Losing just three games, the Stars have scored 82 goals and conceded 27.

The club also recently confirmed it plans to stay at Bush Park when it joins the Cymru South next season, as it awaits confirmation from the FAW that their ground meets tier two criteria.

Ben Murphy’s side still have one game remaining at home to Goytre tomorrow (Tuesday April 29), before the season finishes and the Stars prepare to join fellow borough side Trethomas Bluebirds in tier two.
